As the President of the Werribee Giants Baseball Club, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our web site and thank you reading the various sites.
Werribee Giants Baseball Club was formed in 1983 primarily as a Winter Baseball Club to give players from the VBA Summer Competition somewhere to play in the Winter. After several years playing in the Geelong Baseball Association the Club decided it was time to step up and joined the Victorian Baseball Association in 1994.
Werribee is a very progressive club, and from very humble beginnings where the club played on what could best be described as a sheep paddock which had a good diamond on, but no clubrooms etc. progressed to what now rates as an exceptionally good complex.
The main diamond is fully enclosed with lights for training purposes, a double batting cage and a six person bullpen and one of the best scorers' boxes of any club. Our second diamond is large enough to play two junior games without encroaching on each other.
The club, with the support and help of the Wyndham Council, are continuously doing improvements to its' grounds and over the next few years these ground will be of a very high standard. The clubrooms rate as one of the best facilities of any baseball club with an exceptional canteen set up.
Our club has grown to such an extent on the field that Werribee now boasts one of the largest registered players lists in the VBA. Last season Werribee fielded 4 senior teams, 2 women's teams, an Under 18, one Under 16, 2 Domestic and 2 Sunday Comp. Under 14 and 4 Domestic and 2 Sunday Under 12 teams. We also had 65 Tee Ball participants.
Werribee also encourages its members to undertake various training programs that are available and because of this we now have approximately 10 level one and 2 level two coaches. Six people have completed the level 0 umpire's course and we have two level 1 umpires as well we are always conducting scorers courses. Other members have successfully completed first aid training, responsible serving of alcohol and safe food training courses.
Regards,
Steve Knight.
